Booze News: George's Keep Opens, Beer and Bison and a Tour of Italy

Steve Mahoney's latest bar George's Keep (17101 La Cantera Pkwy, (210) 310-3733) is holding a soft open tonight. The bar, will feature  a The Terrace level bar will feature  3,027 square feet of intimate European and art-deco design as well as handmade cocktails created by Steven Raul Martin (formerly with NAO) and Johnny Bernal (formerly with Green Lantern) . George’s Keep will serve as an awesome view point of the northwest side with it’s 1,500 square feet of exterior space.

Crumpets Restaurant and Bakery (3920 Harry Wurzbach) is giving a tour of Italy with an Italian vintner dinner On Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. The five course Italian meal includes red and white wine pairings. The wine dinner is $70 per person. Call (210) 821-5600 for reservations.

Every third Thursday in Gruene only means one thing: Texas beer and wine. The Grapevine in Gruene (1612 Hunter) will have their March come and taste it tasting on Thursday, March 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. Complimentary tastings from Texas winemakers and craft brewers. Live music and prize giveaways will also be available.

School is back for drinking. Twin Liquors (12955 San Pedro) is having a free pinot 101 class on Wednesday, March 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Drinking students will learn about red and white pinots from around the world. RSVP at store68@twinliquors.com.

Some beer with that bison? Texas Cooks’ Co-Op will have a Beer and Bison dinner with 12 courses, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails on Sunday, March 23. The $70 dinner will be at The Bushnell (240 Bushnell) from 4 to 7 p.m. Email texascookscoop@yahoo.com for tickets.
