First Course: Free Father's Day tacos, details on Starfish and a 'Young Guns' dinner at Cured

In honor of dads who love steak, USA Today compiled a list of Father's Day steakhouses that included SA's own Bohanan's Prime Steaks and Seafood in their weekend lifestyle section. Bohanan's is praised for their craft cocktails, Akaushi beef and atmosphere.

If beer is more Dad's thing, Miller Lite is hosting a complimentary Father's Day Taquiza at Trader's Village San Antonio (9333 SW Loop 410) on Sunday, June 15 from 12 to 3 p.m. Miller Lite is giving away free tacos and beer with a chance to win prizes like tickets to a Scorpions home game. Traders Village will also have their fourth annual Dia de los Daddy's car show with classic and custom cars on display and live music.

James Beard Award-winning Chef Stephan Pyles and Texas artisan cheese maker Paula Lambert are teaming up for a four-course Italian dinner at Sustenio (17103 La Cantera) on Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. The menu includes soft-shell crab and Paula's mozzarella, tortellini, free-range veal chop and orange-mascarpone panna cotta with drink pairings. The dinner is $85 per person with 40 seats available. Call (210) 598-2950 for reservations. 

A new seafood spot is popping up in Southtown. Chef Rene Fernandez of Azuca Nuevo Latino (713 S Alamo) and his son Chef Diego Fernandez have a new concept, Starfish, that will open on Monday, June 23. It will be located at 709 S Alamo in the historic building next to Azuca's bar. The team which includes chef Diego's wife and pastry chef Marita Fernandez and sous chef Michael Evan Martinez will use fresh ingredients and Seafood unique to Texas. The restaurant will feature a cooking bar that will run along the side of the entire restaurant and a menu with craft cocktails and specialty brews.

Cured (306 Pearl Pkwy, Ste 101) is hosting an "Young Guns" heirloom tomato dinner on Saturday, June 28 at midnight. The dinner will include charcuterie with tomato rillettes and sausage, an edible bloody mary, freshwater bouillabaisse, beefsteak and a tomato garden of peaches, plums and cherries stuffed tomato each prepared by chef's Steve McHugh's team of up-and-coming cooks. The dinner is $100 per person. Call (210) 314-3929 for reservations.
