First Course: Cocina Heritage Restaurant opens and deets on Culinaria's Restaurant Week

Fratello's Deli and Market (2503 Broadway) has new hours for those looking to pick up some pasta, fresh cheese or lasagna for dinner. The popular lunch spot is now open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Cocina Heritage Catering opened their storefront location, Cocina Heritage Restaurant  at 118 N Medina. Opened by sisters Silvia Alcaraz and Lupita Rivero, Cocina Heritage specializes in pre-Hispanic and colonial Mexican dishes from family recipes including breakfast gorditas, daily lunch specials and juices.  Business hours will be Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Barbaro (2720 McCullough) is getting a new menu starting next week. The new menu will be free of the Shiitake and Oyster mushroom pizza, a kale potato and honey pizza and muffaletta pie, so get in there and have your favorites before they're gone.

Golden Chick is taking over San Antonio with another location opening at 22002 US 281. A grand opening event will be on Saturday, August 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. with a lunch special of three golden tenders, a side, roll and drink for $5 with free soft serve cones for dine-in guests. Also on the menu will be fried and roast chicken, fried catfish, salad and sides. 

National Oyster Day is Tuesday, August 5 so to celebrate Max’s Wine Dive (340 E Basse) is serving nacho mama’s oysters with fried Gulf oysters on wonton chips with garlic aioli, habanero salsa and cilantro with a bottled pairing of course. 

Culinaria is kicking off another Restaurant Week on August 16 through August 23. This time 75 eateries will participate including seven food trucks for Restaurant Week on the move. The restaurants will offer a prix-fixe menu of a three-course lunch or dinner. Reservations are not required but encouraged.
