  • The eateries will be shut down for several weeks as they look to repair extensive fire damage.

On Thursday, June 11 Cappy's (5011 Broadway) and Cappycino's (5003 Broadway), two Alamo Heights restaurants, announced that will be shut down for the next several weeks as they attempt to repair the damage sustained from a fire on the morning of Tuesday, June 9.

It was determined that the fire started in the roof area of the building and then proceeded to the mechanical room above the kitchen. Extensive damage was sustained to the building's air conditioning system and other mechanical units, but fortunately, the dinning room and kitchen remained unharmed. This means that all the food, which was stored in Cappy's kitchen, also remains undamaged.

While the companies are on hiatus, the staff of Cappy's, as well as, crews from MacKenzie Restoration Inc. will put all their efforts into renovating the San Antonio icon. Until then, restaurant owners Cappy and Suzy Lawton are urging their customers to stop by their sister-restaurant La Fonda On Main (2415 N. Main Ave., 210-733-0621).
