Whoa. The Little Aussie Bakery has closed its doors, gluten-free eaters. The last day of business was Saturday, July 25. Here's what the business owners, Rita Sturzbecher & John Apostolovic, posted on Facebook this Sunday.

Dear Friends,

We are writing to let you know that we have decided to close The Little Aussie Bakery and Café. Firstly we want to thank you all for your support over the years, and we wish you all the very best in your endeavors to find a happy life that meets all of your dietary needs and wants.

While ultimately the reasons for the closure are multiple and complex. The three stand out factors for us are the road works which have significantly affected access to the bakery for the last two years, culminating in the last 12 months with frequent and unpredictable total road closures at our front door. Our inability to attract appropriate investment to expand ourselves to a more viable position. And finally a significant change in our own family dynamic that no longer allowed Rita and I to personally fill in every gap that would occur in our business.
I apologize for the lack of any notice, but we no longer carry the staff to deal with any sort of rush. Effective Saturday, July 25 we are no longer trading.

You can find the HEB's that carry our breads, cookies and mixes by clicking below. But they will only carry stock while they last. We will no longer be supplying new stock.

Thank you again for your support, and all the very best for the future.

Cheers,
Rita Sturzbecher & John Apostolovic

Where will gluten-intolerant and Celiac-sufferers folks buy their bread now?
