How does a bacon brownie sound? A bacon candy bar? How about
bacon salt to cover everything on a plate? If the answer to these questions is
“amazing,” then it’s time for a trip to the Bacon Fest.

Central Market  (4821 Broadway, 210-368-8600) will host its annual Bacon Fest starting March 2 through March 15. Attendees can learn new ways to prepare and enjoy bacon from culinary experts.

The featured classes for Bacon Fest are “Pure Pork Awesomeness” with Kevin Gillespie, season six “Top Chef” semifinalist, and “Discovery Series:  Beer and Bacon” with Central Market Cooking School Staff.

Chef Gillespie will teach individuals how to make some of his favorite bacon dishes including Banoffee trifle with candied bacon and Revival meatloaf. His class runs 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on March 2 and has a $70 registration fee.

On March 9, the Central Market Cooking Staff will teach how to make bacon jam, garlicky rosemary bacon and kale, and roasted cornish hens with bacon-brandy stuffing during their class. They will also have on hand craft beers to help bring out the bacon taste. Class starts at 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and has a $65 registration fee.

For more bacon creations, Central Market has a slew of recipes available on the Bacon Fest page along with other interesting info about bacon.
