If you're already familiar with Independence Brewing Co.'s lineup, you'll want to get your tickets ASAP for Thursday's Ceviche y Cervezas, which combines the breweries offerings with citrusy dishes from some of SA's best eateries at the Southtown Flats. Even if you're not familiar, who doesn't love beer and ceviche?

Independence owner Amy Cartwright will be on-hand to chat about the Red Bud, the brewery's one-time summer seasonal, which has now joined its year-round cast of brews.

The brew's popularity as what Cartwright hesitantly dubs an entry-level sour with natural lemony notes and effervescent feel that pairs well with fresh, summery dishes.

Ceviches y Cervezas, produced by Puro Pinche, will serve as a launch for a new brew, Cucumber Rosebud, which adds chingos of cucumber to the same beer which tempers its sourness some, while still making it refreshing.

The event will feature a line up of chefs including Edward Garcia III of The Box Street Social; Rick Lopez of La Condesa Austin; John Russ of Lüke San Antonio River Walk; Rico Torres of Mixtli; and Gerardo Carvajal, La Margarita.

Guests will be able to sample four beers (6-ounces each) and select one can to enjoy with ticket price from either Independence Redbud Berliner Weisse, Cucumber Redbud, Power & Light or Liberty Lunch IPA.

Tickets for the event, $40 in advance or $50 at the door, are available at eventbrite.com.
