Menus for Houston Street Food in April Are Now Available

Posted By on Wed, Mar 29, 2017 at 10:21 AM

On Sunday, April 9, the block of Houston Street between St. Mary's and Navarro will close and foodies will play as part of Houston Street Charities' quarterly gourmet picnic.

Known as Houston Street Food, the event invites food lovers to order a basket and grab a seat along the communal table and enjoy near-limitless wine and beer. This year's baskets include selections from chef John Russ (roasted garlic and white bean hummus with crisps, chargrilled skirt steak with baby kale chimichurri, cherry tomato and feta salad, mustard green tabouli, triple chocolate brownie); Bohanan's (cucumber gazpacho, watermelon salad, roasted summer vegetables and orzo, muffuletta, house-made giardiniera, upside-down pineapple cake); Market on Houston (creamy market cavatappi pasta salad, chilled house-smoked brisket sandwich with homemade espresso barbecue sauce, kettle mesquite chips, blueberry hazelnut crumble); and The Palm (chilled tomato soup with orange zest, crunchy lemon buttermilk drumsticks - chilled, classic carrot and cabbage coleslaw, lemon bars).

Tickets for Sunday's event are $45 and a portion of the proceeds go toward the San Antonio Food Bank's summer food service program. Houston Street Food runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
