Though first made popular by Houston's El Bolillo Bakery, the uniconcha made its way to San Antonio inside Panifico Bake Shop last month. Available only as a special order, the demand for the uniconcha is so intense, owner Edna Miggins has decided to let San Antonians score the Technicolor goodies all weekend long.

"We’ve only done these by special order, and we’ve had a lot of feedback from our followers on Insta and Facebook, so we decided to kind of make it a special event, rather than just make them an everyday thing," said Miggins via email.

From Friday through Sunday, Panifico will feature uniconchas, unicorn donuts and galaxy donuts during normal business hours.

The vibrant effect is achieved by changing the color of the conchas from a traditional white, brown and pink to trippy teals, bubblegum pinks and powerful purples. The conchas will be 80 cents a pop and donuts will be 95 cents.

"We also will be carrying the unicorn conchas on our dessert truck for the Frozen Treats Fest held at Alamo Beer Co. (on June 17). There, our conchas will be accompanied with ice cream to go along with the theme of the festival," Miggins said.

602 NW 24th St., (210) 434-9290.
