Jamaica Jamaica, a restaurant off of Austin Highway, recently underwent renovations and has finally re-opened its doors. This renovation expanded the size of the restaurant and added a new bar, complete with a happy hour menu.

During happy hour, the Jamaican joint is offering three mixed drinks for $4. The Liquid Marijuana and Rum in the Jungle are two shaken cocktails that they are slinging out. The other drink, the Rum Punch, is a shot of rum served in their house made Jamaica Jamaica Punch (mango, pineapple, orange and strawberries). In addition to the punch, the eatery is crafting their own ginger beer and Sorrel, which is a traditional Jamaican drink made with hibiscus and ginger beer. These house made drinks are perfect to spike with a shot if you aren’t in the mood for fruit juices. In addition to these drinks specials, the bar offers $2 domestics, $3 imports and a dollar off every spirit. Think about it, you could get both a shot of Crown and Jameson for under $10!

If you start to get hungry, the Jamaican restaurant has delicious snacks and sides that are available for under $10. Like the patties, that are priced at $2.50 each and come in either beef, chicken or veggie. The chicken patty is the same chicken they use in their chicken curry dish, it would be a spicy dish if the chicken wasn’t balanced by the buttery crust enclosing the meat. The smaller food options they have are delicious, and will leave you wondering if the main entrees that they are cooking up can compare. They have a myriad of tasty sides and small bites available and the main menu looks equally as delicious. Though the main authentic Jamaican dishes will set you back about thirteen bucks, you save a ton on drinks so in the end it all balances out, right?

Happy Hour is Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

2026 Austin Hwy., (210) 590-0515.
