A 19-second expletive-filled video, a Make America Great Again hat, and a Whataburger location off Nacogdoches and Thousand Oaks are making the rounds today as part of a video that purports to show an unprovoked attack made on the hat's wearer.
The video was posted by 16-year-old Hunter Richard yesterday and has since been removed, but not before receiving several million hits. An initial report by WOAI quoted Richard as saying, "I support my President and if you don’t, let’s have a conversation about it instead of ripping my hat off. I just think a conversation about politics is more productive for the entire whole rather than taking my hat and yelling subjective words to me."
Although police filed a report on the incident, it's not public since Richard is a minor. That hasn't stopped Trump supporters from identifying the alleged assailant, disclosing his home address and getting the guy fired from his part-time job at local bar Rumble.
The bar's page has temporarily been deactivated due to the thousands of comments it received from across the country.
However,
KENS5 is reporting the attack might not have been unprovoked after all, with anonymous source coming forward to share more insight into the incident. The news station has since removed the quotes since it has not confirmed the legitimacy of the witness.
For its part, Whataburger Corporate Communications issued a statement calling for good behavior in its restaurants. “We were shocked to see this video and certainly don’t condone this type of customer behavior in our restaurants," the statement reads. "To be clear, no Whataburger employees were involved or witnessed the incident, and we ask that questions be directed to San Antonio PD as we continue supporting their efforts.”
