The House on Mango Street
Sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes deeply joyous, Amy Ludwig’s stage adaptation of Sandra Cisneros' beloved book
The House on Mango Street tells the story of Esperanza Cordero, whose neighborhood is one of harsh realities and harsh beauty. Esperanza doesn't want to belong — not to her rundown neighborhood, and not to the low expectations the world has for her. Esperanza's story is that of a young Latina coming into her power, and inventing for herself what she will become. José Rubén De León directs Gabriel Sánchez, Eraina Porras, Salvador Valadez, María Ibarra, Joshua Segovia and Bella Villarreal in The Classic Theatre's production.
$10-$25, 8pm Fri-Sat, 3pm Sun, The Classic Theatre, 1924 Fredericksburg Road, (210) 589-8450, classictheatre.org.
