Fri 8/14
Art Party

With its winning blend of humor and history, “Miguel Covarrubias: Culture and Caricature” is a perfect fit for SAMA’s latest Art Party. Enforced with contributions from Yale and Austin’s Harry Ransom Center, the retrospective showcases 140 works by Covarrubias, a celebrated caricaturist, writer and Vanity Fair contributor who’s been described as “Mexico’s Renaissance Man.” Besides tours of the exhibit, the event includes live jazz from David Villanueva, light bites from Paloma Blanca and “Vanity Affair” cocktails custom-crafted for the occasion by Blue Box bartender Nick Kenna. $5-$10, 5:30-8pm Fri, San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones Ave., (210) 978-8100, samuseum.org. — BR
