New Orleans writer and curator Amy Mackie has been chosen as this year’s guest curator for the CAM Perennial Exhibition. Mackie is tasked with providing a non-San Antonian’s perspective on “Move Me,” an exhibition featuring eight local artists. The theme of “Move Me” is displacement, and the exhibition’s works explore multiple mindsets regarding the physical act of being “moved.” The eight artists’ approaches vary, with some utilizing dance and performance, while others present provocative sounds or displays of body modification. This weekend will mark the perennial exhibition’s opening reception.
Free, 6pm-9pm Friday, Guadalupe Gallery, 723 S. Brazos St., 271-3151, guadalupeculturalarts.org.
