Toy Story 2
Slab Cinema’s free outdoor Movies by Moonlight series in Travis Park continues this week with Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 2, featuring the voices of Tom Hanks (as Sheriff Woody) and Tim Allen (as Buzz Lightyear). A sequel to 1995’s Toy Story, the computer-animated adventure takes shape when Woody (a valuable collectable based on a TV show) is stolen by the owner of Al's Toy Barn. The Croods
Santikos' free Summer Movies Series continues with DreamWorks Animation's prehistoric comedy adventure The Croods. Featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone, the 2013 film follows the world’s first family as they're forced to venture out into the world after their cave is destroyed. The Croods will be screened at the Silverado 16, Embassy 14, Northwest, and Mayan Palace theaters. Free tickets can be obtained three days in advance. Muralismo de San Anto
Cultivating artistic talent is a top priority for San Anto Cultural Arts, a Westside nonprofit distinguished by its prolific community mural and public art program. Since its formation in 1993, the organization has unveiled nearly 50 murals celebrating everything from heavy metal to Martin Luther King Jr. Presented in collaboration with the Westside Development Corporation, SACA’s “Muralismo de San Anto” puts a collection of “mini murals” up for auction in an effort to “pair interested parties, be it wall owners or those interested in Westside real estate.” While it showcases nine emerging artists (Evan Wagoner, Matt Ritchie, Philip Luna, Alberto Ramirez Jr., Blair Wilson, Ashley Mireles, Cecilia Santos, Robin Arthur and Adriana Abundis), the public event also features light refreshments and a rare peek inside the 1930s-era Escobedo Creamery. $5 suggested donation, 6:30-8:30pm, Escobedo Creamery, 2211 W Salinas, (210) 226-7466, sananto.org.

Jenelle Esparza: “Ancestral Archetypes”
Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum unveils “Ancestral Archetypes,” an exhibit by Corpus Christi native Jenelle Esparza. Primarily a photographer, Esparza also works in multimedia installation and constructs photo-based pieces. Her latest project comprises "silhouetted figures of real people paired with the gardens, plants and natural surroundings." In honor of Independence Day, The Heart of Texas Concert Band will be performing a live concert in front of The Alamo. The San Antonio Parks Foundation and the City of San Antonio join forces for a kid-friendly 4th of July celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park. The day will be filled with games, food and musical entertainment and culminates with the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza.
