ARTIFACTS

With recent events in the city, such as the birth of new art districts, the growing popularity of Chalk it Up, and next year’s city-wide celebration of the arts, it’s no surprise that two new locally produced publications have started up and are highlighting artists and their works in the city.

The Poet magazine is published bi-monthly and is distributed in San Antonio and Austin. Local poets are given the opportunity to submit their work (a few visual works are featured as well). Check out the November/December issue of the magazine upon which Carol Hoorman’s 21st-century cowgirl artwork cover is featured.

Kelli Clift, editor of Art Lovers News Letter, is currently working on the third issue of her publication, which was inspired by her work. Clift was executive producer, writer, host, and creator of the TV pilot Art Lovers (which has yet to get picked up due to the writers’ strike). So far, Clift has reviewed art shows and also covered a recent visit from Pablo Picasso’s designer daughter, Paloma.

If you’re interested in picking up a copy of either publication, contact [email protected] or [email protected], for distribution locations. Did we mention that both publications are free?
