Boldly Go... to Star Trek: Live in Concert

Consider your day made, Trekkies. After making its rounds in Europe, Star Trek: Live in Concert is coming to San Antonio. On October 17 and 18, you will be able to experience Michael Giacchino’s Grammy-nominated soundtrack for Star Trek Into Darkness live, performed by the San Antonio Symphony. The performance will take place at Majestic Theatre, alongside a screening of the film at 8:00 pm on both nights.

Giacchino, who has worked with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams on his television series Lost, Fringe, and Alias, has created a score for Into Darkness that is at once both moody (not unlike moviegoers who realize halfway through Into Darkness that they are essentially sitting through a Bourne film set in space) and playful (so you stay interested).

As Giacchino’s music is arguably the best thing the movie’s got to offer aside from Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Quinto, even non-Trekkies should rejoice in the inclusion of San Antonio in the Star Trek: Live in Concert dates. Surely an entire symphony at work will make Captain Kirk’s chase after the rogue John Harrison appropriately epic.

Tickets are on sale starting at $35, and can be purchased here.
