Pick of the Day: Alien Ant Farm

Alien Ant Farm

Formed in 1995 in Riverside, Calif., alt-rock outfit Alien Ant Farm (frontman Dryden Mitchell, guitarist Terry Corso, bassist Tye Zamora, and drummer Mike Cosgrove) has seen its share of ups and downs but is back with a vengeance and signed to Executive Music Group (Fontana/Universal) with the original lineup intact. Undoubtedly best known for their infectious cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" — which catapulted them to radio and TV stardom circa 2001 — the quartet has released four studio albums and is reportedly working on number five. Last night, Alien Ant Farm invaded the Ticket Sports Pub for Monday Night Football. Tonight, they play the Tequila Rock Bar at Backstage Live with local support from the Heroine and Coda Vary. $16.50-$25; 8pm Tue, Oct 16; Backstage Live, 1305 E Houston, (210) 782-2817, backstagelivesa.com.
