Pick of the Day: Horrific Film Fest

Horrific Film Fest

Founded in 2007 as a platform for indie filmmakers, the Horrific Film Fest brings an array of flicks and freaks to the Alamo City for a long weekend of thrills. The four-day fest kicks off with a free Zombie Walk followed by “Black Carpet” photo ops with visiting celebrities such as Terri McMinn, the “girl on the meat hook” in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. In addition to oddities like Vito Trabucco’s Bloody Bloody Bible Camp starring Ron Jeremy and the Twitchy Dolphin Flix release Daughter of Werebitch Meets Skankenstein, HFF features two shorts from Spain (Historia Muerta and Leyenda) and the Corpus Christi-filmed El Cucuy (The Boogeyman), all of which will be competing in seven categories including Best Audience Choice Award. $7-$50; noon-midnight Sat, Sep 1; Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes, 1255 SW Loop 410, (210) 677-8500.
