“It’s going to be like wife swapping, only better!”
In keeping with the theme of exchange promised by the forthcoming CAMx project “Crossing the Line” (a two-city collaboration involving Three Walls Gallery founder Michele Monseau, Mexico City-based art space Centro Cultural Border, curator/inaugural Casa Chuck resident Barbara Perea and six visual artists), two likeminded artist-run galleries are trading spaces for Contemporary Art Month. According to Wesley Harvey, enfant terrible of the local ceramics scene, the artists of Clamp Light (a studio and gallery he shares with current resident artists Mark Crutsinger, Sarah T. Roberts and Tom Turner) pitched the idea to FL!GHT Gallery duo Justin Parr and Ed Saavedra. If the announcement posted on CAM’s website delivers on its promise, “It’s going to be like wife swapping, only better!”

“They Said We Looked Suspicious”
Reportedly inspired by “a fragment of a classic Willie Nelson buddy tune,” FL!GHT's founding director Justin Parr and senior creative co-conspirator Ed Saavedra’s one-night-only experience expands creatively on something King Leopold of Belgium once told his niece about artists: “[T]hey are acquainted with all classes of society, and for that very reason dangerous...” Photography, videography, and audio recording are encouraged but all devices (especially phones) must remain silent.
