Look into your trash can and recycle bin.

You probably see trash.

However, it's been said more than a million times that someone's trash is someone else's treasure — or someone else's palette.

Texas Public Radio is inviting families to "TPR Presents: The Art of Recycling" on Saturday, August 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum.

"At this indoor event, families can create art projects out of ordinary household materials that might otherwise have been thrown away, while learning about new developments in San Antonio recycling," TPR says in a press release.

The Autism Treatment Center, Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, The Carver Community Cultural Center, The Children's Shelter, Inspire Fine Arts Center, Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, Spare Parts and State of Texas Alliance for Recycling will provide materials while leading guests through the creative process.

And if you have some extra funds, bring some new art supplies for donations to S.M.A.R.T., a non-profit aimed at "building communities through art education, community outreach, exhibitions and residency programming."

Attendees are encouraged to bring new art supplies for donations to S.M.A.R.T,, a local non-profit aimed at building communities through art education, community outreach, exhibitions and residency programming.

The event is open to all ages and is a free community event.
