Shoppers may already know (and are probably super excited) that the home decor chain store West Elm is in the process of opening a new store here in San Antonio. The store is expected to open Thursday, June 30 and will be located in the building that was formerly the Nightmare on Grayson Haunted House, but we anticipate that this time around the building will have less of a haunted feel and more of a local vibe.
In addition to all of the home goods West Elm shoppers know and love, this store will be introducing a collection solely made by Texas artists, including several folks from San Antonio. This collection will include everything from printed tea towels, stationery, wall hangings, paints, ornaments and jewelry. And you can bet that lots of the featured items will have a Texas flare to them.
Some of the local artists West Elm will featuring include:
Tiny Fawn, an Etsy shop out of Dallas that features prints of the cutest tiny
animals you've ever seen. Twin Sisters Interiors, started by Theresa Naramore and Cheryl Green who happen to be identical twins, if the company name didn’t already give it away, who specialize in both commercial and residential interior design services.
Son of a Sailor, created by William Knopp and Jessica Tata, a husband and
wife team out of Austin who make jewelry, toys and everything in between.
Hemlock & Heather, another husband and wife duo from Austin are creating wall hangings, panels, headboards and ornaments out of wood. Bonus: most of their work is Texas-shaped. Leah Duncan out of Austin is creating different types of home goods from locally sourced textiles with help from her design and illustration background.
Lilco Letterpress by Lily Smith and Kim Owens became a full time career in 2013 after the team moved to Texas in 2006. You can get tea towels, stationery or prints from Lilco, all of which nail Texas Taste.
Boyd's Farm creates local handmade health and beauty products. All of their products are preservative free and packaged in 100% recyclable material.
And finally, Bell & Oak is just right for you if you’re looking for
anything leather or a western product.
The store is excited to be a melting ground and hub for artists across the
state, and we can't we start shopping.
