Givers

Givers, hailing from Louisiana, is a powerhouse of an indie pop band that melds high-drama urgency with indie quirk and a variety of influences from its musically rich/diverse place of origin. It’s been a while since fans of the band were treated to new music, with its last release being 2015’s sophomore LP New Kingdom. While that album was solid, it didn’t quite reach the heights set by the group’s first two efforts. August will see a new EP from the band, however, and Givers sounds, based on the EP’s lead single, like it’s ready to shrug off a minor sophomore slump. Fans can expect to hear all of the band’s new material at this week’s show, plus a smattering of favorites for those who have loved the band since its start back in 2008.
