5 Ways to Get Your Drink/Grub on This Week

Thursday, April 17: It’s time to don those Hawaiian shirts and down some exotic brews at Big Hops Growler Station on Broadway. The Jimmy Buffets at Big Hops will pour passion fruit, hibiscus and Mosaic hops into a Randall double-chamber filter and blend it with Karbach Brewery’s Weekend Warrior Pale Ale. Thursday, April 17: Barbecue season is upon us and Hangar Tavern is ditching beer in favor of vino for this tasting that pairs eight wines with barbecue chicken, pork and sausage via Blanco BBQ. Friday, April 18: Taps y Tapas is getting in on the flamenco action with performances on the patio every third Friday. Canela Fina con Chayito kicks off the series’ first performance. $5, 8pm, 1012 N Flores, (210) 277-7174.


Saturday, April 19: The Cocineros, a group of local cooks, will host their first pop-up dinner, Cena Primavera, at the Art Institute of San Antonio. The six-course feast will lean on Italian classics with a twist. $60, 10000 W I-10.

Saturday, April 19: Fiesta de los Reyes kicks off its nine-day takeover of Market Square with Tejano and conjunto music, and Fiesta fare. More than 30 food booths will feature a mix of Mexican favorites, Cajun shrimp, hamburgers, aguas frescas, funnel cakes and more. Proceeds benefit the Rey Feo Consejo Educational Foundation. Tuesday, April 22: Another Fiesta event for the foodies as La Villita turns into A Night in Old San Antonio, or NIOSA. It’s the only time of the year when people are allowed, nay, encouraged to eat any and all meals on a stick. Don’t miss Maria’s Tortillas, beef on a stick, gorditas, sausages on a stick and beignets as you make your way around the mini ethnic regions of the historic village through Friday, April 25. Wednesday, April 23: Sample all of the eats available north of 1604 during Brighton Center’s A Taste of the Northside. The event will include more than 50 restaurants and food trucks, 40 beer and wine selections, a Stella Artois Beer Garden and three live bands. $55 in advance, $60 at the door, The Club at Sonterra, 901 Sonterra, (210) 826-4492.
