Everyone loves burgers. That's why the All-American Burger Fest is back for a second year on Saturday, July 16. The fest starts at 11 a.m. at Mark's Outing on East Commerce (down the street from Sunset Station), and features a burger cookoff between Mayor Julián Castro and County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson. I hope they stick around for the burger-eating contest too, because that'd be a sight to see. The event is free and will have kids' activities and live music.

If you love beer and tamales, but also want to stay in shape, check out a new series of fitness classes every Tuesday evening at the Friendly Spot in Southtown. MBS Life teaches fitness sessions at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday, covering everything from circuit training to Pilates. The classes run through the end of the month; stop by so you can have your beer and drink it too.

Meanwhile, restaurants across the city are gearing up for the GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up later this month, when locally sourced kitchens plan to donate a portion of a week's worth of proceeds to local food banks. Watch this space for details.
