Fleeing the endless live auction at last weekend’s Cattle Barons Ball — the annual American Cancer Society fundraiser held this year at Rio Cibolo Ranch — a crew of Say-Towners in all their denim-and-diamonds finery landed at the Double Ringer, a bit of bar heaven near Seguin. The cozy outside porch featured pickin’ and singin’, while inside the bartender served a small, well-priced selection of beer straight out of the cooler. Fancy as it got: Corona with a lime wedge, although there was a jumbo-screen TV in an otherwise barren corner. Certain members of the group were in hog heaven, even though they were sporting perhaps the only Prada Western wear ever to darken the Double Ringer’s door. The proprietrix encouraged us to come back on Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m., when a 15-year-old guitar prodigy plays (and we gotta have one of the horseshoe T-shirts). The only phone number A-B could find is disconnected, but just take I-10 East to the Zuehl Road exit; turn left on the access road, right on Zuehl, and you’ll see it on the left after a short drive. Happy bar hunting.
