BETO'S BYE-BYE

The abrupt move was brought about by unresolved issues with the landlord of the space near Basse and Broadway, which Beto's has called home since its move from the South Side less than three years ago.

Will Beto's be reborn? Mijangos says yes: The restaurant's concept has proven itself, and attracted a following. Where is still an issue. Mijangos has been actively exploring other locations, including a site farther north on Broadway, where there is a "50/50 chance" of a move. Meanwhile, Beto's will offer catering and service for private parties. "December is slow for us," explains Mijangos, "so rather than struggle to keep the doors open, we're going to shut down for the short term."

Beto's regulars are hoping that's a very short term, indeed.
