Bobby Flay Taste Tests Armie Hammer's Bird Bakery on Good Morning America

The raincloud that is the Spurs’ Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat was somewhat dissipated Monday, and all it took was a Mexican chocolate brownie.

Seriously, though, Bird Bakery owner Elizabeth Chambers brought some sweet publicity (pun intended) to our city on Good Morning America yesterday during a segment with Food Network star Bobbie Flay. The master griller scarfed down the pastry while hosts Josh Elliot and Lara Spencer chatted with Chambers about her actor husband Armie Hammer’s upcoming film The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp.

The couple have owned and operated the Alamo Heights bakery since 2012, boasting a menu of everything from sandwiches and coffee to legendary cupcakes and cookies, all made with quality, wholesome ingredients.

It does make you feel a lot better about eating, say, a dozen brownies if you know that there are not artificial preservatives in them.

The presentation of the food rivals the taste in excellence. The cookies are designed by hand for all occasions, from graduation to Father’s Day to the Lone Ranger-style cookies Chambers brought to set.

On the segment, of course, the elephant in the room was addressed.

“Sorry about the Spurs, by the way,” Elliot said. “It happens.”

Ouch, my heart. Still too soon.
