Booze News: Poker Run, New Tequila at La Fogata and Friendly Fiesta

Booze News slings up the latest gulp downs around town every Tuesday.

It’s a poker run with the King and Queen Anchovy on Saturday, April 5 starting at 1 p.m. The run begins at The Monterrey (1127 S St. Mary's) with stops at Bite (1012 S Presa), The Brooklynite (516 Brooklyn), Cured (306 Pearl) and Minnie's Tavern and Rye House (328 E Josephine). A $50 ticket ($30 for designated drivers) gets you five bites and drinks from these five places. All benefits go to Fiesta Cornyation.

Tuk Tuk Tap Room ( 1702 Broadway) will celebrate Songkran, the Thai new year with their first annual Songkran festival on Sunday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. The festival includes traditional Thai street food, craft beer and music. Tickets are $15-$25.

La Fogata (2427 Vance Jackson) has another Tequila to taste this April. On Saturday, April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Hornitos Tequila will be available to try straight up for mixed in a margarita at La Fogata's tasting table.

The Friendly Spot Ice House (943 S Alamo) is honoring Fiesta Cornyation King Anchovy Steve Newman with Dogfish Head Beer Wednesday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m.
