Catch 'Em All While You Bar Hop Tonight

Last night, I went out with friends as I'm wont to do. But I had ulterior motives. I was low-key trying to catch them all. OK, so maybe it wasn't so low-key. Maybe I went to Rumble because White Rabbit (not Paper Tiger, mind you) is a pokéstop that's baited non-stop throughout the night.

I wasn't the only one either.

Because this is America and capitalism is king, other bars in town are getting savvy to the Pokémon GO craze that's getting people off their butts and out on the streets exploring the city. Here are three ways you can join the fun, or if you're a curmudgeon, here are three areas you should probably stay away from if you don't want any pokéballs in your figurative lawn.

Join Pub Run San Antonio for some moseying around the city's Downton on Friday, July 15 starting at 7 p.m. The 21 and up group will meet at Pat O'Brien's (121 Alamo Plaza) and will continue on to Alamo Plaza, Moses Roses Hideout, The Last Word, Kremlin, The Davenport and On The Rocks Pub. Join the free pub crawl for goodies, Pikachu cameos, swag and, of course, all the pokémon you can collect.

If you'd rather have Eevee come to you, The Hangar (8203 Broadway) is hosting lure parties during happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. The bar also doubles as a gym, so you can battle it out for control and hopefully claim the spot for Team Mystic (just saying...). Loosen up your swiping finger with a pokéball shot, a peppermint libation made with Rumplemintz and grenadine for $4.25.

If low-key beer tasting is more your speed, but you still want to level up, drop a lure at Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling (4834 Whirlwind Drive). The tasting room/pokéstop will open 5 to 9 p.m. this Friday for all your Pokémon Go needs. Meat and cheese boards will be available for purchase and chill pets and kiddos are welcome.
