80 and still kickin'! (Courtesy)
The longest and oldest bar on the Riverwalk will celebrate turning 80 in a big way: Esquire Tavern (155 E Commerce) is throwing a jazz rager to commemorate its opening on Repeal Day 1933.
The bar is encouraging party-goers to don "Riverwalk Empire"-themed attire while they sip on Repeal Day Punch prepared by bar manager Houston Eaves and complimentary passed appetizers from 6-10 p.m.
The evening includes music by Brent Watkins from 7-11 p.m., a champagne toast at 8 p.m., a performance by Stars and Garters Burlesque from 7-9 p.m., late night eats until 11 p.m.
