First Course: Southerleigh at Pearl, a Fourth of July sausage party and upcoming dinners

The Pearl is getting a new brewery this fall with new restaurant Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery. The new dine and drink spot is set to open in the historic Pearl brewhouse in the fall with coastal and southern cuisine influences. Menu items will include hand rolled pretzels, Texas Longhorn jerky, wood fired meats, traditional shellfish boils, beer braised meat and a lot more. The custom brewery will house 21 different beers on tap sold by glass, bottle or growler.

Houlihan's Restaurants has announced a partnership with ReCork which recycles wine corks and repurposes them. Houlihan's will now recycle all wine corks popped and serve as a drop-off recycling center for patrons to bring from home. ReCork has plans to take the recycled corks from Houlihan's 83 locations to make soles for shoes and sandals. Houlihan's has two locations is San Antonio with one at 938 N Loop 1604 and 14601 IH 35 N.

Sustenio at Eilan Hotel (17103 La Cantera) will have an Arabian nights and Turkish delights dinner on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m by Chef Stephan Pyles. The five course meal will have fois gras brulèe, avocado mousse, pork carnitas, stuffed Turkish pasta, wild striped bass, Moroccan-spiced lamb tagine and pear almond baklava with wine pairings. The dinner is $99 per person. Call (210) 598-2950 for reservations.

Grayson St. Eatery (521 E Grayson) will have a celebration of its opening with a new moon event on Wednesday, May 28 at 6 p.m. The event is $25 per person for a buffet-style dinner, two drinks and entertainment from Maya Guirao World Music Project. Partial proceeds will go to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation. Tickets are available at SAAF (818 E Grayson).

What's more American than tons of sausage? A celebration of America with so much sausage is taking place on Friday, July 4 at 2301 S Presa from 6 to 10 p.m. A keg of Saint Arnold's fancy lawnmower will also be there in case the sausage didn't sell you.
