Industry News: A new Veranda, power lunching, and fun foodie events

The building that formerly housed Jason Dady’s The Lodge at Castle Hills has reopened its doors as the Veranda, an event space. The Lodge closed at the end of 2011, and the Spanish-style facility is well suited to weddings, which the Veranda will most likely see many of. Chef Mike Bomberg of Spice of Life Catering is the owner of the Veranda, and will provide catering for events at the mansion.

In other Dady-related news, his wine bar and restaurant BIN 555 hosts an oyster event every Tuesday in April. Shuck Out With Your Truck Out has been a hit with customers the past couple weeks, so get there early (i.e., before or as close to 5 p.m.) as you can.

All you executives on the go, take note: the Palm downtown now offers a lunch menu that will get you in and out in an hour or less. Plus, you can get a martini for under 10 bucks midday, making for an extremely enjoyable power lunch.

Texas Pride Barbeque in Adkins (on the East Side) will host a Tex-Mex buffet every Wednesday this summer, with activities like beer and wine tastings, live music, dancing and even chuck wagon cooking. Next Wednesday (4/24), listen to western swing by Billy Mata & The Texas Tradition.
