Tunes, cocktails, and good food: what more could a person ask
Lowcountry, a bar located in a small two story house off of Cezar Chavez now offers all that and more. The watering hole has served great cocktails and cheap beer Tuesday thru Sunday since their opening late last year. In addition the bar sports a happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring $5 house cocktails, a shot and a wash for $3, and specials on beer, wine and wells.
Recently the bar announced that they will open on seven days a week, adding Mondays to the schedule, and will host Joe Saenz, from Swine House. The pop up will serve delicious food sourced from local farmers and made from scratch every week. The partnership is following a successful “swine-dependence day,” an event in celebration of the summer holiday that benefited Planned Parenthood. Swine House served Fourth of July favorites, including a roast pig sandwich, and a portion of bar and food proceeds went towards the cause.
This most recent pop up kicked off the weekly event with a couple of different options for bites. Grilled Bacon on a skewer was a favorite snack for bar-goers, and was priced at only $2. For those with a bigger appetite, choose between grilled meatballs, (served with a house-made red sauce on top of focaccia bread) a pickle plate, (three different pickles, served with butter, mustard and bread) or ricotta lavash (ricotta on top of lavash bread drizzled with honey, sea salt and parmesan cheese) all priced at $8.
Both the food menu from Swine House and the cocktail menu from Lowcountry could rotate on a weekly basis, which is part of the appeal. You could go one week for a happy hour cocktail and a snack, and then find something completely new during your next visit. The prices for the food will change, though they promise to keep it priced fairly for their fans. The happy hour prices at Lowcountry however will remain constant for the foreseeable future.
Swine House will be at Lowcountry from 4 to 9 p.m. every Monday night (weather permitting) and happy hour at the bar runs 4 to 7 p.m. daily.
