You need this sandwich in your life.

There's no big pitch here. We're sharing lunchtime deals and steals in and around San Antonio. It's more cash in your wallet, and hopefully a tiny food baby to keep you going through the work day.

If you're in midtown, Saigon Express (1626 McCullough Ave., 210-277-1899) is no secret. The joint with the light blue paint job has been around since 2003 and has kept area lunchers happy with lunch specials under $7 (the lemongrass chicken is a personal fave).

If you're especially stretched for cash and you forgot to pack a lunch, the $3.75 sliced, roasted pork banh mi is a must. Served on a fresh baguette and chockablock with fresh cukes, thick jalapeño slices, chingos of cilantro and carrots, this sandwich will keep you sated until 5 p.m.

Saigon Express is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
