Blue Bell is still not available in San Antonio.
It may be a while before San Antonio can have their very own “Blue Bell Country Day”.
Blue Bell announced today it's entering phase two of its five-phase re-entry into the market. The company expects to complete its product roll-out this November.
Phase two will reintroduce Blue Bell ice cream products to stores in Waco, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, as well as Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
Ricky Dickson, Blue Bell's vice president of sales and marketing, said via press release that
the company has seen a positive customer response since its ice creams returned to the Austin and Houston markets in late August. He added the slow roll out is to ensure the highest quality after the company pulled all of its products from store shelves in response to a listeria contamination in a number of its facilities.
“We are working as hard as we can to keep stores in phase one stocked without jeopardizing the new quality and safety procedures we have implemented to ensure our products are safe and of the highest quality.”
For some San Antonians, hearing the Blue Bell won't be available in the local market in the near future can seem like another heartbreak. Texas and even San Antonio is in love with Blue Bell. Whether it’s from incredible marketing or amazing flavors or simply Texas pride, some people from hardcore Blue Bell heads to the casual ice cream consumer can’t wait to taste those classic flavors again.
The only flavors currently available are Buttered Pecan, Cookies ’n' Cream, Dutch Chocolate, Homemade Vanilla and The Great Divide. If you've gone too long without your Strawberries and Homemade Vanilla or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, well, sorry, we don't know what to tell you.
Dickson said he doesn’t know when the next three phases of the plan will begin, so for the time being San Antonio will still have to wait for Blue Bell’s return.
