Thanksgiving Is Almost Here — Leave the Cooking to Professionals

The holidays are almost here. If you're not about toiling over a hot stove and oven or hosting 15 of your closest, weirdest family members in your make-shift office/dining room, then keep an eye out on the Thanksgiving menus popping up around town. Las Ramblas at Hotel Contessa (306 W. Market St.) will host T-giving brunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ($62 for adults, $22 for children 6-13) with carved turkey, prime rib, breakfast items, salads and desserts. Boudro's Texas Bistro on the River Walk (421 E. Commerce St., 210-224-8484) will make it easy to entertain out-of-town guests with a four-course dinner for $39 per person. The menu, created by executive chef Robbie Nowlin, will include roasted pumpkin bisque, winter mache salad, duck confit with Yukon gold potato-manchego gratin and sweet potato pecan pie.

La Cantera Hill Country Resort (16641 La Cantera Pkwy.) will feature two dining experiences. Take a more relaxed route at the poolside Primero Cantina for a Thanksgiving prix fixe with heirloom tomato salad, roasted free-range turkey and Mexican bread pudding ($34 for adults, $17 for children 5-12). At the resort's Sweet Fire restaurant, the Thanksgiving buffet will feature a raw bar with tuna poke, shucked oysters and poached Gulf shrimp; a selection of cheeses and charcuterie; a salad table; carving station; action station with made-to-order seafood paella and pie selections from the bakeshop. If you insist on having people over, let O'liva (115 Plaza De Armas #107) do the work for you. The Downtown eatery is accepting orders on to-go Thanksgiving dinners. At $18 per person, the plates will include autumn tom with rosemary and lemony glaze, pumpkin bisque, Spanish chorizo and cornbread stuffing, green bean almandine with cranberries, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, herb-crusted earthen rolls and pie of choice (pumpkin, chocolate pecan or spiced apple). If your Thanksgiving guests are the more discerning type, Branch on High (704 High St., Comfort) will host two pairing classes and mulled wine presentations on November 21.
