There's a new place to unwind in Monte Vista.
Jeret Pena (Brooklynite, The Last Word, Stay Golden) is unleashing his next concept on the world this September 1 at 5 p.m. The
Old Main Association is effectively replacing Beat Street Coffee Co. & Bistro (& Burgers & Whiskey or whatever they turned into towards the end there) at 2512 N. Main Ave. with classic cocktails and pub fare by chef Lorenzo Morales (formerly with Arcade Midtown Kitchen).
Opening hours will be 5 p.m. to midnight Monday-Friday; 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 pm. for Sunday brunch. Happy hour will run 5-7 p.m. with $5 menu cocktails, $3 Lone Star/Light, $4 Alamo pilsner, $5 Brut Cava and Rosé Cava and $5 house red and white wines. The bar program will feature a few hits from Brooklynite and Stay Golden menus and are $8 across the board.
The food on the other hand is Morales' take on San Antonio's multicultural heritage as divided into Teasers, Cravings and Solos. You'll find bangers and kraut, a potato pancake, and pork and beans in a can, along with a concha burger (pan de huevo bun, lettuce, pickle, cheddar cheese, pecan aioli). Whatever chicharron fries are (chorizo gravy and queso Oaxaca on top of said chicharrones), I need them in my life. Snacks range from $5 to $11 for bigger plates. Old Main Assoc. has a solid beer selection, similar to the brews you find over at Stay Golden Social House.
