First, FruitMix tried their hands at the Thai-style ice cream trend. Then, in the midst of Hurricane Harvey, El Paso-based Fahrenheit opened its first San Antonio location. Now, Tasty Nation makes three.

Because San Antonians are just as obsessed with doing it for the 'gram as other major cities, the Thai-style ice cream trend is officially here. Tasty Nation, which was the first to announce, but not first to market, will open Saturday at 11 a.m. at 6330 De Zavala Road, Suite 103.

Opened by friends Jose Perez and Adrian Cadena, the shop will use its two rolled ice cream machines to make eight signature rolls (still being developed) and a few build your own varieties including basic ice cream, water-based sorbet, and a vegan flavor. Prices will be $5.99 for dairy and sorbets and $6.99 for vegan varieties.

Cadena and Perez grew up in Mexico and will incorporate those flavors into the rolls. Expect Gansitos, cajeta, La Lechera condensed milk, and Maria tea biscuits. Waffle tacos are also in the works.

Though both have plans to turn Tasty Nation into a franchise, they know they have to get over the weekend's rush.

"We're scared about getting too overwhelmed, but we're gonna go as fast as we can," Perez said.

Tasty Nation will open Saturday at 11 a.m. Opening hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
