Earlier this summer it was announced that
Tucker's Kozy Korner would go through a change of hands, and was going to be taken on as a new project by Jeret Pena from The Boulvadier Group. The change in ownership came with a brief hiatus while the "Kozy" joint on the corner of Cherry and Houston went through a facelift.
Pena didn't change much about the bar. It's still a neighborhood joint where people of all ages and backgrounds could come together for a drink and some good eats. If you've visited the lounge before August 9 you may think it's the same place as before, because it mostly is. Almost everything is the same, from the pictures along the walls to the pianos and the bar stools. The only difference is that the old carpet was replaced with wood floors (easier to keep clean!), the vinyl was replaced to look new, and the walls were given a fresh coat of paint. Outside is similar, as well. Albeit a new fence, there is still a patio stage where bands and DJs can perform while music lovers sway along.

Fried Pickles from Tucker's
The menu is keeping it simple as well, shelling out comfort food, $5 "Mix & Match-makers" (choose your beer and shot), and wine. While they don't have a cocktail menu, the inside is equipped to make just about any classic you can think of. Chef Jeff White, consulted on the menu that features fried pickles, mac 'n' cheese, tater tots, and fried bologna sandwiches. Just like before, the bar is doing Sunday brunch, too!
Throughout several iterations in its almost 70-year span, Tucker's has always been a cozy neighbor lounge, where people of all kinds can get mix and mingle, and based on the turnout opening night — that's not going to change any time soon.
