It seems like San Antonio is finally warming up to bagels, but that growth has made for some serious decisions from local bagel maker Suzanne Jarvis-Hermann, owner of the Bagel Factory.
According to a Facebook post, the shop will effectively close at the end of the year. In the post Hermann notes the retail growth of the store, which includes bagels for Central Market and a few neighboring coffee shops. To keep up with that demand, she's decided to close the store to focus on that growth.
Not all is lost — the storefront will close its cafe operations, but bagels will still be sold by the half dozen or full dozen, but must be ordered ahead of time and all transactions will be cash only.

We have loved being your go-to bagel eatery for the past 8 years and both I and the amazing staff of Bagel Factory thank you for your dedicated business. After many long days and sleepless nights, I have come to the realization that it is in our best interest to close the doors to the Bagel Factory café. The last day to join us for coffee and a bagel will be Sunday, December 31st from 7am to noon.

When we are not serving you bagels in the store, we are hard at work delivering thousands of bagels and muffins throughout San Antonio to other stores and local businesses! We will be focusing our efforts on expanding this arm of Bagel Factory as we continue to bake fresh bagels for the residents throughout town.

Since we will continue to be making bagels at our current location you will have the opportunity to buy bagels by the half dozen (minimum 6 bagels PER flavor). In order to place an order for pick up, your order must be placed by noon the day before you want to pick them up.

You will be able to purchase Bagel Factory bagels at Central Market on Broadway, 7 days a week. I am also hoping some local coffee shops will start retailing our bagels as well - I'll keep you posted as that happens.
I have been truly blessed to have had the opportunity to share my love of NY bagels with you for the past 8 years. I have loved seeing you all enjoy our delicious goodies and catch up with friends and family over a bagel, schmear and a coffee.
