Watch it the way your grandpa did — in a theater full of stoned teenagers and funny-smelling perma-fried acid casualties — for free at either 7:30 p.m. or 10 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes. Just try keeping a straight face during the part where John Bonham pretends to be a racecar driver. If you’ve actually forgotten how to laugh, it’s time for a trip to the chill-out tent.
For a movie that’s genuinely not funny, head to Westlakes Thursday, September 15, for Solar San Antonio’s screening of The End of Suburbia. The film “explores the American Way of Life and its prospects … as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply” “with brutal honesty and a touch of irony.” Carpool to this one in your hybrid car for extra smug points. Tickets are $5 for SSA members, students, and seniors, $9 for everybody else.
