With five Texas tour dates scheduled and talk of a national tour, the band is once again on its feet and running, but questions remain, however, about its future. Are the Toadies really back, or has a ghost of the band only temporarily been dragged out to promote their last album?

Reviews of the live album recorded before they called it quits in May 2002 at Boston's Paradise Club have been favorable. The 18-track disc features Toadies classics, video clips from the performance, band interviews, and two previously unreleased tracks, "ATF" and a cover of the Pixies' "Where is My Mind."

Before the recent announcement of Toadies tour dates, it appeared as if certain band members had moved on. Lewis passed through San Antonio just weeks ago fronting the Burden Brothers, his newly formed metal experiment with fellow Texan Taz Bentley of Reverend Horton Heat and Izzy Stradlin's band. Toadies' drummer, Mark Reznicek, had also returned to the stage playing with Kirkland James and with the Joy Division tribute band, Warsaw.

However temporary this reincarnation of the band is, fans can be sure to hear all of the hits that made the band late-'90s darlings of rock radio when they roll into the White Rabbit on Friday, December 27. If the reunion fails, and the Texas tour turns out to be a séance-like performance from beyond the grave, rockers who miss this show will grieve all the harder.
