Live Music Returns to The Mix Tonight

The Mix, the former dive on the Strip, ain't so dive-y anymore. At least not the actual atmosphere of the place, once garnished in trippy tinsel, low ceilings and a buffet of smells that I will lovingly refer to as "rock 'n' roll aromas." Although the staff and drink prices will stay the same and cheap, respectively, the bar with never a cover is having a serious facelift, tummy tuck, colonoscopy, etc. etc.

This is not a grand opening. There is still much work to be done to get the joint that shall nevermore be referred to as a "joint" where the owner's would like it to be: adding another bar, possibly doing something in the back make out room, comping my tab forever, etc. However, they have announced that tonight, Thursday, February 18, will be their first night of live music after the two weeks of working on the place behind closed, covered doors.

Tonight's show will feature The Red Legs, which consists of members of Lonely Horse, the Bolos and The Hares', as well as two, yes, two drummers. Filling out the bill is Pochos Chidos and Harvey McLaughlin & The BottomFeeders, who just released their 7" vinyl single Dragon's Breath. Bands will start around 10, but doors open at four, so stop by, scope out the new digs and the impressive new stage, and drink to the future, because you can't go back, doggy.
