The refreshingly crisp sound of Hydra Melody feels like a diabolical genius somehow replaced the fratty nonchalance of Young the Giant with a less pretentious attitude and a little more edge. A puro product of the Alamo City, the band's founding members met at O'Connor High School and started experimenting with indie rock instrumentation way back in 2005. Fast-forwarding through time, the ambitious rebels of Hydra Melody are a seasoned group of musicians with a worldly, summery vibe. Also showcasing alt-rock outfit Sound of Curves, this Hump Day show is the perfect distraction for any cool kid who prefers Kings of Leon's earlier work. 8pm, Free, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. Saint Mary's
