Truth be told, if we learned anything from Motley Crue's "Girls Girls Girls" video, it's that topless bars go hand in hand-job with heavy metal, like baseball sluggers and performance-enhancing creams, like Paula Abdul and dorky crooners. You get the idea.
San Antonio veteran metal band Kalhalla also gets the idea, which is why they've taken the unusual step of setting up a live recording at San Antonio Men's Club, a "gentleman's establishment" located at 8444 Interchange Parkway. The live tracks will be used for the group's upcoming CD, Long Hail Kalhalla, tentatively planned for an October release. After completing the recording, they'll perform a tribute to Metallica, Slayer, and Black Sabbath. The gig takes place on Saturday, May 21. Doors open at 7 p.m., and cover is $10.
When i'm 64 revisited
The former Robert Zimmerman turns a gloriously cranky 64 on Tuesday, May 24, and Casbeers will celebrate the occasion with its annual Bob Dylan Birthday Bash that same night. This year's lineup includes Dylan admirers such as Jimmy LaFave, Rosie Flores, Sisters Morales with David Spencer, The Infidels, True Stories, Eric Hisaw, Ruben V, Rusty Martin, and Los #3 Dinners. Cover is $10, with proceeds benefiting the Southwest Mental Health Center.
