“Permanent for a Moment” — Surreal McCoy

In the interest of fairness, we’re going to have to submit this entry into the Mixx Tape Traxx canon with a big fat asterisk, because Surreal McCoy might be a local act, but there’s no way this track was recorded more recently than 1975. Every single note of this gently plucked, mellow-voiced acoustic-y jam screams vacuum-sealed time capsule, recovered no doubt from that brief period when AM radio was more than a haven for Holocaust deniers and classical music and it was still legal for a man to get a perm, when Bread and CSNY believed it was possible to change the world through politely harmonized complaining, and before all the hippies realized they would grow up to be investment bankers.
