Round Eye Coming All the Way from Shanghai to Play Some Punk Tunes at Limelight

Sharing the stage with the likes of D.O.A., The FUs, Paul Collins Beat, M.O.T.O., Ceremony, and Iceage, Shanghai, China’s Round Eye might be your new favorite punk band. They’re fast and chaotic but still retaining some pop aesthetic in their songwriting. Make no mistake, though. This ain’t pop music.

Formed in 2012, Round Eye has won numerous awards in their home country, toured extensively and were banned from performing on mainland China by the Ministry of Culture during a tour with U.K. punk legend’s The Boys. While the ban lasted only the duration of the tour, it’s pretty telling of the type of antics these folks get into on stage.

$7, Fri July 13, 9pm, Limelight, 2718 N. St. Mary’s St., thelimelightsa.com.
