Nestled in the bosom of the North St. Mary’s musical corridor and catty-cornered to Limelight lies Jandro's Garden Patio, an unsuspecting bar/venue that always seems pretty quiet (in a chill, laid-back way), even on poppin’ Friday and Saturday nights. The joint is home to the The Blah Poetry Spot, a collaborative dedicated to “develop, and promote the literary endeavors of the San Antonio community,” and with the good vibrations already soaked into the wall of Jandro's from the SA’s poets, the venue is the perfect spot for the artists playing the folk and folk rock showcase.

Josh of The Josh Glenn Experiment has a cover of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” that might be the best cover of any song ever covered by anyone ... ever. Seriously though. It’s soulful, curious and perfectly translates the spirit in which the song was written, an uneasy feat for your average singer-songwriter, which Josh Glenn most certainly isn’t. Acoustic guitar strums, percussive guitar taps, and clever riffing braid into themselves as Glenn’s show usually involves him building his songs live using loop pedals making for an engrossing experience.

Also on the bill is Laura Marie, a well-known name in the singer-songwriter circuits whose songs are reminiscent of Lilith Fair era artists like Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan, and the OGs of the female singer/songwriter genre, The Indigo Girls.

Rounding out the showcase is Midwest Armadillo, a two-man (one-guitar), harmonizing, acoustic folk group who sort of sound like if Dwight Yoakam and Elliott Smith had a kid.

$5-$10, Saturday, September 30, Jandros Patio Garden, 2623 N. St. Mary’s St.,, For more information and to purchase wrist bands visit
