a week on the scene
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES
Forget Ozzfest. Forget Justin and Xtina. The place to be on Saturday, June 28 is the Municipal Auditorium, where Texas Public Radio will host its second annual "musical extravaganza," San Antonio Sings, featuring none other than Patsy Torres.
Well, it won't just be Torres. The "celebration of America" will also feature the HOT Chorus, the 323rd Army Band, the Alamo City Men's Chorale, the Alamo Metro Chorus, the Chordsmen, the San Antonio Choral Society, tenor Peter Buchi, and the San Antonio Liederkranz. And there will be dance: URBAN-15, the Showstoppers, the Earle Cobb Dancers, and Chae-Dee will perform.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $12.50 for adults and $10 for children and seniors; balcony seats are $10 and $7.50, respectively. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, at 224-9600 or www.ticketmaster.com.
BENEFIT IN BLUE
When a tidy little joint called Wings, Booze, & Blues closed in early February, sablues.com mourned the loss of a friend. On Sunday, June 29, sablues.com comes together with Ruben V, the Infidels, Albert Garcia, and Surprise Package to honor Wings' "last flight," at Sam's Burger Joint (330 E. Grayson, 223-2830). The cover for the all-ages show is $5; proceeds will benefit sablues.com •
